Governance of Church & Our Schools

Parochial Church Council

The running of our parish is the joint responsibility of the vicar and the Parochial Church Council (PCC), which is made up of the parish clergy and elected representatives from our congregations. As such, the PCC is our church’s governing body and also the board of trustees which oversees the church’s charitable works and money.

Our PCC meets regularly to discuss matters about the life of the Church. Apart from finance and buildings, it considers the Church's mission and involvement in the community, support of missionary work, the social life and activities of the Church, the spiritual development of the congregation and our worship. Membership is for three years.

For more information regarding representing the church at PCC level, you can send us your query via email or phone FAO Gillian Barker, PCC Secretary. Alternatively, you can register your interest using the form below.

The PCC's annual report for 2023 presented at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) can be found here.

Deanary Synod

Whilst the Diocese of Manchester is served by the Diocesan Synod, each deanery has its own policy making body known as a Deanery Synod.

We are part of the Oldham and Ashton Deanery and the Deanery Synod is chaired by the Area Dean and the Deanery Lay Chair. It is made up of all the stipendiary clergy in the deanery together with representatives elected by each parish. The number of representatives from each parish is dependent on the electoral roll of the parish and membership of the synod is for three years.

Some of the functions of the Deanary Synod:- bring together the views of the parishes in the deanery on common issues and to formulate polices to address them, to foster a sense of community and inter-dependence amongst the parishes and to generally promote the whole mission of the Church - pastoral, evangelical, social and ecumenical.

For more information regarding representing the church at Deanery Synod level, you can send us your query via email or phone FAO Gillian Barker, PCC Secretary. Alternatively, you can register your interest using the form below.
